  • From Connecticut

I’m Lara Strathmore. I was born in Connecticut, where tradition and discipline shaped much of my early life. I grew up in a world of boarding schools, equestrian training, and family expectations that valued composure and achievement. Those years taught me the importance of polish and precision, lessons I still carry with me today. They also left me with a quiet awareness of how much can remain unspoken beneath a flawless surface.

    To New York

Now I live in New York, studying psychology at Columbia. My days are divided between lectures, long walks through the city, and evenings spent reading or writing. My style reflects the East Coast codes I was raised with — cashmere, ivory, navy tailoring — though I’ve come to wear them less as a uniform and more as a choice. New York is louder, more alive, and has a way of testing how much of myself I keep guarded and how much I allow to be seen.

    Into The Page

I write because it helps me make sense of both. My series, New York Always, is my way of weaving the world I came from into the one I live in now. It’s not a diary in the confessional sense, but a record of how love, restraint, and intimacy take shape in a city that never stops. For me, writing is both an anchor and a mirror — a way to hold on to what matters most, and a way to look more closely at myself.

“Sometimes I wonder if anyone would recognize me if they only read my words.”
